Sports Center uses Celerant Technology's Retail Management System to Expand and Maintain Firearm Sales
Staten Island, NY (December 20, 2005)- Sports
Center, a two, soon to be three, store sporting good and firearm
retail chain, uses Celerant Technology's ATF (Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives) approved, Retail Management System
to track and manage all firearm sales. Celerant has enabled business
at Sports Center and other firearm retailers to run significantly
faster and improves data integrity within the organization.
"When the ATF comes to your store, it is as serious as an IRS audit.
It can be distressing for the store owner," says Celerant Account
Representative, Gary Ellis. "They want to see all of the activity
for guns that have been sold as well as guns in stock. Specific
reports are required showing history and current status/location
of a gun.. They will expect to see that gun in the inventory if
your system shows that it is there. If a certain gun and it can
not be located, consequences are rather serious."
With Celerant's ATF report program, the retailer, or the ATF inspector,
can pull the required information that might be needed concerning
any firearm that has been purchased and received by the retailer.
All of the activity of that firearm throughout its inventory cycle
can be systematically tracked. The reports and inquires can be selected
not only by serial number but also by vendor, model, date of sale,
date of receipt, customer name, and the ATF NICS code assigned to
every gun in the system.
"I carry over 25 different types of guns," says Sport Center owner,
Wade Craig. "All of which are simply entered into the POS. Celerant
permits my store locations to have accurate inventory, with perfect
tracking, as well as customized reporting, which follows the government
requirements for ATF approved firearm retailers," stated Wade Craig,
store owner. "Numerous times local law enforcement officials, in
addition to ATF inspectors, have come into my store looking for
any information I can provide them with, based solely on a serial
number. Now with Celerant, I can quickly and easily retrieve that
information for them, with no worries. In the past, this process
would take hours!"
